Eligibility

Hillview Lodge

Applicants will be assessed as not able to safely cope in their home or lower level living option with or without informal support. They also will be assessed as requiring 24-hour personal care and support in a supportive, structured and supervised environment.

Medical Conditions

  • Medical condition is stable and appropriately managed without a 24-hour on-site Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • PRN (unscheduled) medication assistance available if the resident is capable of making the request

Cognitive Status

  • May have mild dementia but behaviorally stable
  • May require unscheduled reassurance
  • No known risk of an elopement but may wander, is easily redirected
  • Awareness of personal space of others
  • Social behaviour of the resident does not induce fear and anxiety in other residents
  • No known risk of self-harm or harm to others

Functional Status

  • Mobilizes independently or with one-person transfer
  • Required unscheduled personal care (assistance with management of incontinence, cueing and/or assistance with meals, transportation to meals, direction and/or cueing for initiation and completion of activities, assistance with prepackaged scheduled medications)
  • Able to call for help using a call system

Exclusion Considerations

  • Behaviours requiring physical intervention
  • Behaviours impacting the safety of self and others
  • Verbal or physical aggression
  • Risk of elopement
  • Mechanical lift transfers
  • Two-person assist with any aspect of care
  • Chronic unmanaged incontinence not amenable to interventions
  • Requiring assessment and care by a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse at unpredictable, unscheduled intervals

Sunshine Lodge

You are eligible for accommodation in Sunshine Lodge if you are:

  • 65 years of age or older
  • Preference is given to residents of Drumheller and surrounding area
  • Medically stable
  • Functionally independent

Functional Independence is defined as being physically, mentally and emotionally able to look after your own personal needs with or without the assistance of community-based services and be able to interact socially with other tenants. Applicants who require constant medical supervision would not qualify for residency.

Functional Independence includes:

  • Managing personal medications
  • Maintaining appropriate personal hygiene
  • Maintaining an appropriate diet
  • Ability to get to the dining room for meals independently
  • Ability to maintain the unit in a safe and clean condition
  • Ability to live amicably with fellow tenants
  • Willingness to follow tenancy guidelines established for community living

Self-Contained

(Maple Ridge Manors I & II, Cottages, Villas, Morrin or Delia)

You are eligible for accommodation in our Self-Contained units if you are:

  • 65 years of age or older
  • Preference is given to residents of Drumheller and surrounding area
  • Medically stable
  • Functionally independent
  • Within the Core Housing Need

Core Housing Need

Unable to acquire or maintain suitable accommodation without paying more than 30% of your total income
Total annual income below the Core Need Income Threshold established for Drumheller ($42,500 as of June. 2024)

Functional Independence is defined above.
